The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Headquarters Office in Plano, TX was excited to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to utilize the food they receive to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume help along with money-management and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so excited that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
