What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Epperson Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple of the most common A/C problems in Hilton Head Island.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system operating but there isn’t cool air coming out, you may need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air blowing from your air conditioning system is actually cool. Call Epperson Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning and we’ll come out and check your refrigerant levels and look into why your AC system is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

One reason your condenser fan isn’t rotating could be that it just burned out and you have to replace it. Humidity tends to cause more condensation so an additional issue to watch for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is obstructed. If you can check these issues, you may be able to find the issue; if not, give Epperson Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your system working again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering your thermostat. It seems simple but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your A/C cooling, check the air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause huge cooling troubles. Another thing that could cause your insufficient cooling is that your air conditioner is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a typical issue when homes are constructed. Epperson Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning will come out and conduct an analysis to determine if the size of your unit is causing your issues.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off repeatedly, it could mean one of multiple things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and needs cleaning. Once the equipment is cleaned and all obstructions removed, you may be back in business. Remember that humidity also plays a part so if your home cools to the desired temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the equipment is having to work harder to keep your home cool.

No matter your problem, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, Epperson Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your family comfortable quickly.
